Batok-inspired apparel for the modern-day mandirigma [warrior]
Products
Every brand has a beginning. For Los Pintados Fightwear, it starts here.
Simula — Filipino for "beginning" — is the founding piece of Los Pintados Fightwear. It carries the marks of those who came before: inspired by batok designs, the ancestral tattoo tradition of the Cordilleran peoples of Northern Luzon, where ink was earned through courage, protection, and personal achievement.
The chest takes inspiration from the chaklag — a mark worn by headhunters to signify prowess in battle — featuring the ngipin ng buwaya (crocodile teeth) and gayaman (centipede) patterns, symbols of protection and resilience. The banig weave binds it together, a reminder that no fighter stands alone.
On the upper arms, two patterns layer together: the tinulipao — the snakeskin pattern of the Kalinga and Visayan peoples, a mark of protection and transformation believed to shield its wearer against malevolent spirits — and the tabwhad (python scales) from the Cordilleran tradition, reinforcing that same symbolism of strength and resilience. The forearms trace the life cycle of the rice plant — growth, sustenance, continuity — while diamond patterns mark the balance of day and night: the rhythm of consistent training.
On the back, the Philippine Sun is reimagined — its traditional symbolism of unity and sovereignty now interwoven with a Polynesian fish hook at its centre, inspired by our Polynesian cousins. Known as makau in Hawaii, hei matau in New Zealand, and mangai in Rapa Nui, the fish hook is a symbol of strength, prosperity, good luck, and safe passage across water — a tribute to the deep, respectful bond between people and the sea. Together, the Sun and the hook carry a single intention: that we manifest a great future in all our endeavours, no matter what land we stand on or what oceans we cross.

“THE PAINTED ONES”
Los Pintados Fightwear is more than gear — it’s a tribute to heritage, resilience, and the warrior spirit of the Philippines. Rooted in the legacy of the “Pintados” — the tattooed warriors encountered by early Spanish explorers — our brand carries forward a proud tradition of strength and identity.
Each piece draws inspiration from traditional Filipino tattoo art, known as batok (meaning “to tap”), an ancient practice where markings were earned through courage, honour, and achievement. These symbols told stories of battles fought, victories won, and the unwavering spirit of our ancestors.
At Los Pintados Fightwear, we bring that same spirit into the modern fight game. Our designs are a fusion of culture and combat — honouring the past while empowering today’s warriors to step with pride, purpose, and power.
