About the Artist

Arthur Lyle Aves Sagge

Born in the Philippines, raised in Australia, and now based in Scotland, my journey has always been shaped by movement, culture, and resilience.

Los Pintados Fightwear originally started as a way to support my Brazilian jiu-jitsu journey and the adventures that come with it. Very quickly, however, it became something much bigger. It evolved into a platform to represent culture, stay connected to my Filipino roots, and give back to communities that need support - while creating gear that helps competitors feel proud and confident on the mats.

I began training in combat sports in 2017, exploring boxing, mixed martial arts, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. After the COVID pandemic, I stepped into the cage for a charity MMA fight, an experience that ignited a deeper passion for martial arts and pushed me to pursue training more seriously. Not long after, life presented an unexpected challenge when I was diagnosed with epilepsy following two seizures in 2022, forcing me to step away from the sport for a time.

Eventually, I returned to the mats with a renewed perspective and determination not to let a condition define who I am or what I’m capable of. Years later, after earning my second stripe white belt under Mestre Wilson Mattos, I decided to combine my love of travel and jiu jitsu - visiting gyms around the world and competing whenever possible. Today, I train in Edinburgh, Scotland, at Rick Young BJJ Academy and Edinburgh Judo.
